What a busy week

What a busy week, I don’t seem to have stopped and when I look around my office and bug room I don’t seem to have got very far! My office desk is covered in paperwork and the bug room looks like a tornado has hit. I am staying indoors today to clear things up before the weekend (I was going to say everything but it won’t be everything).

I have a lot of new animals coming in next week, tarantulas, true spiders, scorpions, millipedes, snails and more. It really is a very busy time with spring just around the corner and of course Easter only a couple of weeks away. I have sent out about twice as many parcels as usual this week (very pleased). I am trying to stick with posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays only and it seems to be going well, clearly one of my better ideas! For years I posted orders on Mondays but it really takes over the weekend which isn’t fair on my family, especially now that my husband is off at weekends. It was quite different in his old job when he had time off during the week and often worked weekends himself. Having said all that I will indeed be working tomorrow to get everything ready before the new animals come in but Sunday is Mother’s Day and my son and daughter are taking me out for lunch.

My super website guy has updated the tarantula section on my website, there are a few glitches that need sorting out but neither of us has had time this week. He has been ‘changing servers’ for all his clients. It is a bit beyond me but I do realise that it affects all of his clients and therefore he has a huge amount of work to carry out. I am continuing in my quest to improve the website, especially the information on different animals, I try to get a little done each day. PLEASE – my usual plea, if you spot any mistakes anywhere I would be very grateful if you could point them out to me.

Whilst my website guy was explaining the new workings of the tarantula section he suggested that I might like to have “Live Chat” on my website. My reaction was abject horror, I do my best to answer a constant stream of emails, texts, WhatsApp and Facebook messages. How on earth could one person working alone cope with Live Chat as well? I would never get away from my desk! I very nearly said something rude to him but just managed to stop myself. I think he got the message that the answer was “no, I would not like Live Chat thank you very much”. I appreciated the blog comment that I received last week. I don’t think blocking Facebook messages would be good for business but I do like the idea of pointing everyone in the direction of my website. I will be implementing this as soon as I find time, I was really happy to be given clear instructions on how to do it. Thank you very much Jen for taking the time to help.

Well that’s it, I need to get on with the clearing up. I must just say that I cut out a piece from the paper this week. It says “Scientists may have found an answer to chronic pain – in the fangs of a tarantula”, it goes on to say that the University of Queensland has found a toxin in the Peru Green Velvet tarantula’s venom that impairs the routes to the brain that carry messages of pain. I’m sure I’ve got one of these tarantulas coming in next week, how interesting! Of course the photo that accompanied the short article was of the good old Mexican Red Knee and talking of Red Knee spiders, our daughter’s friend who is staying with us actually likes spiders! She was probably the only friend of our daughter who didn’t freak out over her pet Mexican Red Knee Stephanie in the bedroom as they were growing up. I had to take full advantage of someone close to me liking them so I have given her a Red Knee of her own. I set up the tank while Lexi was at work and she is delighted with her pet. Lexi will be moving back to her mum’s house in a couple of weeks. I haven’t yet asked how her mum feels about Itzy (as she is now called).

Happy Mother’s Day everyone.
