Spring is approaching
Spring is approaching. I can finally say that it is spring next month! The weather has been considerably warmer these last couple of days, which is good as I have had a lot of new live stock this week. I have two parcels of spiders due today so I will be busy housing and feeding them all and entering them on the website. It's been another really busy week with lots of orders coming in. I am trying to keep a good range of bugs but some of my 'little friends' take far too much effort, I cannot wait until the praying mantids have sold out. I love mantids but I cannot continue to sell them. I don't like posting them as they moult so frequently, I get attached to them as I spend so much time feeding them and (trying to think of a tactful way to put this) I simply get too many enquiries about them and continual hassle.
On a personal note it was my birthday on Wednesday '21 again', my husband was away with work and I had a lot of orders to get out that day but the family came over for tea and it was very nice. Thank you to those of you that rang/emailed to say Happy Birthday (I realise that most of you didn't know it was my birthday). It was a far cry from last year when I was in Mauritius, lying on the beach drinking champagne and eating coconut (my favourite food). We have now booked our summer holiday though, it is not until August but it is certainly something to look forward to. I love the Greek islands, we are going to Rhodes, where it is always scorching hot in the summer (which suits me). Last but certainly not least I will be unavailable on Wednesday next week as I will be attending my much loved auntie's funeral. This means that sending out orders will be squashed into only three days so I will be extra busy (I do wish we had post at the weekends).
In the old days before my super automated website was up and running I always tried to let people know when I was sending their order out. I do still try when people ask but it isn't simple anymore as I have far more orders to deal with. I try to send out all the orders that come in over the weekend on a Monday but there are often too many so some are carried over until Tuesday. Monday is by far the busiest day of the week for me as I get lots of phone calls and emails from the weekend. I'm still working on getting a day off, I try to take time out on Sunday but I do seem to spend most of it catching up from the previous week. I can honestly say I am never bored and it is extremely unlikely that I will ever be fat with all the running around that I do. I must do a mile a day just going between my office and the bug house. I just got out there yesterday morning and the doorbell rang so I had to dash back in. I have to be careful at the moment as the decking is very damp and if I slipped I'd end up in the pond!
That's it for another week, I will get my husband to 'ok' my blog before I upload it to the website. I always email it to him just in case I am being a bit too controversial or moany (me moan?). I do try not to offend anyone and I am always aware that lots of different people read this blog, different ages, nationalities, family (why?) etc. My daughter has now taken it upon herself to check out what people are saying about me on forums. I keep telling her 'I don't want to know', I hate them! Most comments are great but I can't help taking the nasty ones to heart, I know I need to toughen up but let's face it I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.
(Hubby has ok'ed the blog but says he thinks I walk several miles from office to bug house each day!)
